It seems like there is some new supply issue every week. What is it now?
Paint! According to this article by NAR, in many areas around the country paint shortages have hit the point where some stores are out of stock of their most commonly purchased types.
What Happened?
NAR reports the current shortages of paint are because of supply chain issues caused by both the pandemic and by the extreme weather in the petrochemical hubs of Texas.
The shortage has reached the point where NAR cites builders and contractors who are having to place themselves on waiting lists in order to get the paint they need to start or finish projects. They go on to cite industry statements that indicate that the price of paint could increase from 6% to 40% with no timeframe for restoring normal supplies or pricing.
How to Work Around It
If you have a listing where the seller was planning to repaint before putting it on the market, what should you do?

In order to help with that, we’ve put together a handy pre-appointment guide that agents can give to their clients (co-branding is available).
After the home is prepped, our skilled photographers can help you and your clients to capture the house in a way that provides inviting listing photos, compelling property walkthrough videos, immersive Matterport Tours, and perspective shifting aerial photos.
